Comprehensive omnichannel shopping experience

We recently had the opportunity to redesign the hardware store's app for Globus Fachmärkte GmbH & Co KG. Our expertise in UI and interaction design, as well as app design, was combined with our knowledge of omnichannel online shopping experiences. The goal was to provide DIY enthusiasts and craftspeople with access to a comprehensive range of tools and equipment, as well as the entire spectrum of advice and services in a digital format. Ergosign created a comprehensive, seamless digital experience that leaves nothing to be desired.

BriefMore than weekly offers

The new "Baumarkt" (= hardware store) app should be human-centered and clean, with a primary focus on improved user experience and the integration of the online shop. The availability of goods on-site, online, or through pre-ordering should be apparent at a glance. In addition, the app should integrate Globus' diverse services with popular features: the customer loyalty card, coupons, overview of purchases and orders, weekly offers, and digital receipts, alongside the innovative Scan & Go function, were indispensable.

ApproachAlways an idea better

After the analysis phase and a competitive benchmarking process, we drafted a design concept. Crafting the overall design we also created icons and illustrations. To promote UX awareness among Globus Baumarkt employees, we conducted various workshops. For instance, there were training sessions in Figma to enhance the design skills of the staff, enabling them to work independently with the design tool in the future. This facilitated a collaborative approach, enabling communication at eye-level while providing all stakeholders with the opportunity to give feedback directly within the design tool. As a result, change requests could be implemented swiftly, and everyone had a clear overview of the specified requirements.

The app provides an perfectly tailored omnichannel shopping experience in line with the Globus Baumarkt brand. Customers can find inspiration for their next home improvement or garden project, create shopping lists, and order online seamlessly through the app. Thanks to a design system with a consistent look and feel across all touchpoints, the app offers an enhanced eCommerce shopping experience with intuitive usability. In addition to many features, the app also integrates a Scan & Pay function, enabling a comprehensive online and offline experience. Customers can scan products with the app while shopping and add them to their cart as usual. Costs are transparent, and payment is stress-free, without long waiting times. This allows DIY enthusiasts and craftspeople to free up more time for the perfect execution of their home and DIY projects. Furthermore, the app provides an overview of current offers, local market information, DIY tips, and the opportunity to collect loyalty points with the customer loyalty card and coupons.

Mit der neuen App von Globus Baumarkt startet auch das überarbeitete Kundenbindungsprogramm – für ein noch besseres Einkaufserlebnis. Neben aktuellen Angeboten, dem Online-Shop, lokalen Marktinformationen und praktischen DIY-Tipps, punktet das nutzerzentrierte Update auch durch die optimierte digitale Kundenkarte.

Kunden profitieren von exklusiven Vorteilen, personalisierten Rabatten und einem beleglosen Umtausch. Einkäufe – sowohl online als auch im Markt – werden automatisch erfasst und belohnt. So sammeln Kunden bei jedem Einkauf Bonuspunkte und sichern sich bis zu 10 % Treuebonus.
