The Cyclone FIELD 360 app forms a link between 3D data collection in the field using the RTC360 laser scanner and data registration in the office using the Cyclone REGISTER 360. It lets the user automatically collect, register and review scanned and image data on-site using a tablet. For this software, we designed a self-explanatory user interface to facilitate challenging interactions in 3D, such as grouping and enhancing scanned models, by experienced and inexperienced users alike.

The LEICA Cyclone landscape isn't just made up of a tablet app but is complemented by a user interface on the scanner and desktop software. All components have to intuitively portray highly complex processes, such as scanning the environment, matching scans to the environment, and connecting scans to create an overall image. To make operation as easy as possible for the diverse user group, we created a cohesive software landscape with a strong recognition effect.

Through intensive analysis of the previous workflow, suggestions for improvements were developed and then considered in the design of the interface. Experts served as beta testers to provide regular feedback. The Leica Cyclone FIELD 360 UI portrays highly complex processes in a transparent, easily understandable way. Thanks to automatic registration in the field, the creation of three-dimensional point clouds are sped up and simplified, meaning that results are directly available as graphic representations.

Cyclone FIELD 360 is a high-performance tablet application that can be used to operate 3D laser scanners in the field, review scan quality, connect scans with one another and enhance them with data.
