Efficient product configuration thanks to optimized UI

The most important task was a clearer and more user-friendly visualization of the immense complexity of the configuration options. The enormous number of products had to be categorized and specified. Ergosign has developed a concept allowing the user to quickly get the most efficient hits for their search. It was thereby important to differentiate between the product range of STÖBER USA and STÖBER Europe. An automatic allocation does this to the respective shop via geolocation. The choice of the shop can, of course, also be changed manually.

Instead of flooding the user with a product selection, a clear user interface was created that initially only provides the main product groups. By using the filter function, types and series can be selected up to the configuration of the suitable product. The front end was implemented with a specially designed and developed Angular UI Components Library and connected via REST API to the middleware solution provided by KiM. The UI Components Library also serves as a basis for future STÖBER web applications.

The IT service provider KiM GmbH, founded in 1998 in St. Wendel, was our partner in this project and was involved in all design processes. KiM is a specialist for variational, parametric products, interactive 3D configurators, visualizations in 2D and 3D, as well as for the output of CAD files of individual parts, but also complex assemblies. The 3D visualization per configuration step is based on the 3D models created over many years by STÖBER using KiM's CADClick® technology. In the project, KiM was also responsible for the interface connection to the front end. It was a successful cooperation for a successful project.
