The very first Digital Experience Conference by Ergosign took place on September 6, 2023, in our office in Saarbrücken.
The focus was on digital experience platforms – the basis for successful digital brand experiences and sustainable customer relationships.

Together with our technology partner, Storyblok, we brought together six industry experts from development, design, accessibility, and customer experience. They shared their knowledge with the guests, reported on methodological basics, and gave clear, practical examples to show what needs to be considered so that employees and customers have the best possible digital experiences.

Hands-on knowledge for complex topics

Our goal was to host a conference that covered the most important topics in digital customer experience — topics that -people from different industries and backgrounds can benefit from. It was important to us that technological topics offered developers something new while remaining accessible to non-specialists. Likewise, complex issues should be presented to convey practical and applicable knowledge. In addition, we also want to provide the time and space for networking and stimulating new ideas through exchange.

A seamless experience

With our knowledge of industry trends, growing customer needs, and the most significant challenges in building a holistic digital brand presence, we tried to identify the most pressing challenges and opportunities when selecting issues. Together with our experts, we chose six topics that were then covered in insightful and concise lectures:

  • Digital accessibility

  • Headless CMS

  • Customer Experience

  • Emotional design

  • Digital customer experience

  • Maximizing the ROI of a CMS

Deciding on the event location was easy: The Ergosign Office in Saarbrücken has the perfect premises with our large forum with stage - with lots of light and enough space for exchange.

A warm welcome to DXC23

An event with impact

On a perfect late summer day, we were excited to open our doors at 9:45 a.m. — the forum filled up quickly. The DXC23 was opened by Prof. Dieter Wallach, CEO and founder of Ergosign. Anna Böni, Senior Business Developer, led through the day as our charming presenter. Anna introduced the agenda and speakers and moderated the question-and-answer session of each talk. For those who may have missed the event, here is a brief summary of the day:

The first speakers on stage were Henriette Wittig (Project Manager, Yippie) and Markus Kühner (UX Director & Head of Site Saarbrücken, Ergosign). In their talk "Change in the Energy Industry – Digital Customer Experience as a Game Changer" they spoke about digitalization, development, and strategy using the example of Yippie as a "digital-first" sustainable energy provider. Björn Busch-Geertsema (Head of Development, Ergosign) then summarized the development status of content management systems. In his talk "The State of Headless CMS – Basics, Opportunities and Best Practices" he gave an overview of the advantages and possible pitfalls of transitioning to a headless CMS.

Participants at DXC engaged in networking
Networking & good conversations

Freshly strengthened after the lunch break, we started the second half of the day with Julius Hemingway (Product and Partner Marketing Team Manager, Storyblok) and his experience in e-commerce on the topic "Unlocking Enterprise Potential: How to Maximize the ROI of your CMS". Adrian Wegener (Senior Project Manager, Ergosign) followed with his talk "Don't be afraid of accessibility – sustainable and sensible implementation of the legal requirements". He effortlessly condensed his extensive knowledge of guidelines and legal principles for digital accessibility into an insightful lecture.

A coffee break with light bites and cake prepared the participants for the last two lectures of the day: Tobias Zapp (Principal UX Designer, Ergosign) highlighted in "Beyond UX – Users are more than "just" customers" the importance of the employee experience. Oliver Lang (Executive Creative Director, SMAL) told us how emotional design supports a strong brand and its storytelling in the last talk of the day: "How emotional design creates consistency and creates added value – an example from the energy industry".
