AI Meets Digital Experience

Following its great success in Germany, our Digital Experience Conference finally had its debut in Zurich, on June 17, 2025. Right in the heart of the city – at Ergosign Switzerland AG – experts from design, marketing, technology, and strategy came together to explore a topic more relevant than ever: Digital experiences in the age of artificial intelligence.

The conference combined inspiring expert talks, hands-on insights, and valuable networking opportunities – all centered around one key question: How are AI and modern platform solutions changing the way we design digital experiences?

Rethinking CX: Inspiration, ideas, interaction

The day kicked off with a warm welcome by Oliver Kulpi (Managing Director, Ergosign) and Toni Steimle (UX Director, Head of Site Zurich & Basel), introducing the program.

The first deep dive was presented by Milena Suter (UX Designer, Ergosign) and Toni Steimle. Through concrete use cases, they demonstrated how artificial intelligence can be a consistent companion throughout every phase of the customer journey – from first contact to long-term loyalty. At the core was the idea of hyper-personalization: AI enables not only tailored communication but also proactive experiences that adapt to the user's life situation, needs, and even emotions. This fundamentally transforms interactions – from reactive responses to anticipatory solutions. What stood out was that every presented idea resulted in a measurable win-win situation, offering clear benefits for both users and companies. The shift in perspective from one-time transactions to sustainable, partnership-based relationships wasn’t just discussed – it was brought to life.

Next, Joon-Mo Lee (Director Growth Strategy, SMAL) challenged attendees to think critically with his talk: “AI can do it all – faster, cheaper, more emotional?” With a clear focus on brand identity, user emotions, and the limits of machine creativity, he questioned the typical promises made by AI – in a way that was inspiring, honest, and thought-provoking.

Platforms in transition – from technology to experience

After a short coffee break, Tobias Zapp (Principal UX Designer & Head of DXP, Ergosign) illustrated how Digital Experience Platforms (DXPs) can be made ready for the AI era. His core message: AI is not an end in itself, but a strategic lever for better digital products and customer experiences.

The final presentation came from Arne Lummerzheim and Daniel Hikel of Optimizely. In their joint talk, “Back to the essentials: How AI in modern DXPs gives marketers time for real marketing”, they showed how companies can use intelligent platform solutions to evolve their customer experience – efficiently, personalized, and at scale. Drawing on over 35 years of combined digital business experience and deep expertise in technology and brand management, they offered numerous practical takeaways.

Austausch, Apéro, Ausblick

To round off the afternoon, we invited everyone to enjoy a summer apéro with cool drinks and tasty snacks – the perfect atmosphere for relaxed networking. Conversations deepened around AI, platform strategies, and design. Whether it was about use cases, technology integration, or design approaches – the lively exchange made it clear: there is strong shared interest in innovative, AI-driven experience solutions.
