Quick and easy configuration of the required product.
STÖBER is one of the leading manufacturers and developers of drive components. The extensive product range includes gears, motors and drive controllers as well as device and user software. Ergosign has been involved in the complete redesign and conception of the product configurator in collaboration with KiM GmbH as a specialist for 3D visualizations. In close cooperation with STÖBER USA and Europe, a user-friendly and uniform user interface has been developed which is suitable for both desktop and tablet.
"With the newly developed concept, we have managed to narrow down our immense product portfolio to suitable products with just a few clicks."
The most important task was to make the immense complexity of the configuration options more user-friendly and clearer. The enormous number of products had to be categorized and specified. Ergosign has developed a concept that allows the user to quickly get the most efficient hits for his search. A distinction had to be made between the product range of STÖBER USA and STÖBER Europe. This is done by an automatic allocation to the respective shop via geolocation. The choice of the shop can of course also be changed manually.
Instead of flooding the user with a product selection, a clear user interface was created that initially only provides the main product groups. By using the filter function, types and series can be selected up to the configuration of the suitable product. The frontend was implemented with a specially designed and developed Angular UI Components Library and connected via REST API to the middleware solution provided by KiM. The UI Components Library also serves as a basis for future STÖBER web applications.
The IT service provider KiM GmbH, founded in 1998 in St. Wendel, was our partner in this project and involved in all design processes. KiM is a specialist for variational, parametric products, interactive 3D configurators, visualizations in 2D and 3D as well as for the output of CAD files of individual parts, but also complex assemblies. The 3D visualization per configuration step is based on the 3D models created over many years by STÖBER using KiM's CADClick® technology. In the project, KiM was also responsible for the interface connection to the frontend. It was a successful cooperation for a successful project.
STÖBER was founded in 1934 by the two brothers Paul and Wilhelm Stöber in Pforzheim as a mechanical workshop and is still family-run today. As a medium-sized company for drive technology with over 800 employees worldwide, STÖBER as a developer and system manufacturer deals with all components of drive technology - from software to precision gears. Extremely individually structured solutions enable the comprehensive, modular product range.
