Prototyping

Prototyping plays a vital role in the development of high quality user interfaces at various stages of the design process. Since data binding and other implementation aspects are not involved, creating and updating prototypes is both cost and time efficient.

Visualization

VisualizationPrototypes enable us to elaborate and continuously consolidate design ideas through visualization.

In addition, they channel the essential communication of the design process by facilitating productive discussion through concrete, tangible proposals.

Evaluation

EvaluationAn iterative design and test strategy using prototypes is the perfect method of evaluating design artifacts at an early stage.

As the precise requirements of future systems may be difficult to predict, prototypes enable us to ensure that an interactive system will meet the demands.

Static vs. Interactive

Static versus Interactive

Mockups are static, but very detailed, screen designs which we use to explore different variations of the visual design and to envision interaction workflows. They allow you to visualize the future look of the interface and to get a feel for its handling.

We use interactive prototypes mostly for usability tests.

In particular, modern technologies such as Javascript libraries or Expression Blend make it possible to develop extensive prototypes at reasonable expense.

They have a very realistic appearance and high potential for reuse in the implementation phase.

High fidelity prototypes provide a very authentic representation of the expected user actions and workflows.

Next Generation Prototyping

To optimize the workflow of our designers ERGOSIGN developed a tool, which alleviates the transitions from wireframes over detailed mockups to interactive prototypes.
