High quality icons are the basis for a superior user experience and for the brand identity of an interactive product. In addition, memorable and intuitive icons facilitate quick recognition of functionality, increase the visual orientation of the user, and hence maximize the learnability of the software.
The first step in the development of an icon set is to draft multiple style variations of icons that can be regarded as paradigmatic. This choice ensures the desired result in terms of brand identity and conciseness across the whole range of applications.
The final definition of the style is made in close coordination with the client. The different versions provide a focal point for effective and purposeful discussion.
ProductionAfter successful style definition, each symbol is developed and then prepared as pixel or vector-based graphic files in all required sizes and states. It is of fundamental importance in this phase that all constraints are considered, be they due to the development platform, functionality or intercultural specifics. Finally, we check all the icons we produce as regards to their graphic quality, originality and conciseness. |
For small icons we recommend a pixel precise display in the target size. Although lossless scaling is not possible, this method offers maximal detailing and expression in minimal space.
A vector-based approach is better for larger icon sizes because it allows lossless scaling. The level of detail is adjusted to the most used size: an icon optimized for 48px will reveal less detail when scaled up than an icon optimized for 256px.
Our icon gallery, to be found under references, offers a variety of additional icons in all sizes as examples.
Besides the development of customer-specific icons, we offer sets of ready-made icons in our shop. These sets cover an extensive range of popular functions from standard to business software.
Different styles such as the subtle satin or the modern, dramatic glossy-look guarantee optimal compatibility with the look and feel of your application. Of course, it is also possible to extend the icon libraries with custom icons to fit to your specific product,
